  1. How could I obtain technical support?
Most of the time, your question might be answered in F.A.Q. page. If you still cannot find your answer in this page, you are welcome to fill-up the technical support form, and one of our technical representatives will contact you shortly. You may also send email directly to support@pvicom.com.

  2. What are the minimum hardware and system requirements to run PVI software?
Processor: PC with Pentium 500MHz or faster
Operating system: Windows 2000, XP, Vista or 7
Screen resolution: 1024 by 768 pixels or higher with small font
MS Office: Office 2003 (MS Access) or later version
    Memory: 512 MB of RAM
Hard drive: 1 GB of free disk space

  3. What are the installation procedures? Does it make any differences on Windows XP, Vista or 7?
For different operating system, there are some differences on the installation. For Windows XP, simply log in with the administrator privileges and double click the execute file to install the software. For Windows Vista and 7, please log in as administrator and right click the execute file, then choose “Run as administrator”. When you run the PVI software application by double clicking the shortcut on the desktop, sometimes the system might pop up a message to ask you to go to “C:\PVI\***” to run the software application as administrator. Just follow the message. Next time you run the software application, you can simply double click the shortcut icon on the desktop.

  4. What privileges level does one need for PVI software setup?
The user installing such setups ALWAYS needs administrator privileges.

  5. What privileges level does one need for PVI software to run properly?
All PVI software needs the administrator privileges to run properly.

  6. Do I have to use administrator's privilege to use PVI software?
The answer is no. But we strongly suggested that you install and run PVI software under administrator's privilege. As long as the user has the privilege to modify the windows folder, you will be fine. You can grant normal user (which is not administrator) the privilege to read and write the windows folder as well.

  7. How to solve “Run-time error ‘339’: Component ‘TABCTL32.OCX’ or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid” problem?
This error message happens when the tab control is not correctly registered. You can choose to manually register this “.ocx” file. Launch the command prompt, then route to “C:\windows\system32”, type in “regsvr32 tabctl32.ocx” and press enter. A window will pop up and tell you that it is successfully registered.
Errors concerning “.ocx” and “.dll” file registrations can be solved in the same way above, by just changing the file name.

  8. What should I do if the software in the client computer cannot find the server HASP dongle?
You can try to configure the “nethasp.ini” file which is at the installation directory. You can specify the server’s IP address at “NH_SERVER_ADDR”. This will save time to search for the hasp dongle in the intranet.

  9. How to solve “The Microsoft jet database engine cannot open the file “.mdb”, it is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.” problem?
This error message pops up when you do not have MS Access installed on your computer. You need to install MS Access, Word, and Excel (version 2000 or after) before you can run our software.

  10. How to solve the problem of "draw2d.ocx" "wbocx.ocx", "tabctl32.ocx", or some other ".ocx" that is not corrected registered?
This problem happens at the following situation:
    1. When you run PVI software, the privilege you have is not administrator. The software need to register the supporting file at the windows system folder. Normally, only administrator has the privilege to modify the files at the system folder (including registration).
    2. The ".ocx" file is not correctly registered because of your system configuration. You can run command prompt with administrator's privilege, reroute to the windows system folder and type in "regsvr32 draw2d.ocx" (or other ocx).

  11. How to solve the "ODBC driver not found" problem?
The database used in PVI software is created by Microsoft Access. You do not need to have Access installed on your computer to run the software, but you need the ODBC driver of Access to communicate with the database. To solve this problem, you can simply install Microsoft Access on your computer (the ODBC driver for Access will be installed automatically with the Access). Or you can manually install the ODBC driver for Access.

  12. What does "Feature not found", "USB dongle (key) not found",and "Not authorized to run this problem" mean?
These messages mean that the license on your computer is not inappropriate. Right now, PVI is in the process of upgrading the protection method. The license on your computer might be old. Please send the name of PVI software you are using, the version of this software and the alphabet letter on the dongle (should be HASP HL, HASL R...) to support@pvicom.com. We will contact you as soon as we can to update your license.
